NYC.gov: Summer Streets

This summer, for the fourth year in a row, the NYC DOT and its partners will temporarily close Lafayette Street, Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park to motor vehicles and open it up to people on three consecutive Saturdays in August (August 6, 13, & 20). Summer Streets takes a valuable public space - our City's streets - and opens them up to people to play, walk, bike, and breathe. Summer Streets provides more space for healthy recreation and is a part of NYC's greening initiative by encouraging New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. Summer Streets will pass through Chinatown each Saturday and will be filled with many things to do, so if you are in the neighborhood, be sure to check it out. | |
